About Me

Graduated from UCLA in 1976 and lived with Rick Nelson's family where I ran his publishing company out of the house. 10 years later I was offered my own division at Motown by founder Berry Gordy. I had cracked the code of a formula hit song after working for Rick Nelson and Glen Campbell by finding a prodigy songwriter, Leslie Pearl. We had 4 Billboard chart records in a row. I went on to be a published BMG/MCA writer and now have my own indie label www.oconnorrecords.com

My Interests

Songwriting and music and the convergence of new technologies that allow indie companies to have a competitive edge. Words are the best handshake anyone can make they give you an immediate grip of someone's character. To join the inner circle you have to think outside of the box. With 60, 000 financed releases a year only 88 artists go gold or platinum. My interests and hobbies are those that have anything to do with me getting into that club. Have published songs that made the 88 club, but want to launch a new artist into that rarefied world. Have always loved comedy: hence the oconnorism: "Sometimes you have to entertain with the talents of a court jester before you try to educate with the wisdom of a king"

Music

All genres of music as long as they have great concepts, lyrics and titles. A great song is like a 3 minute movie. The human mind can play back pictures on the screen of our imagination far more vivid than celluloid.
